Eligibility Criteria: MS/DOMS/DNB
Clinical evaluation of uveitis
Complete work-up of uveitis cases
Basic immunology course
Training in anterior chamber paracentesis, vitreous tap and diagnostic biopsies
Exposure to laboratory work-up including ocular pathology and molecular diagnostic tests
Training in multimodal imaging in uveitis and targeted drug therapy in uveitis
Management of uveitis including periocular and intraocular steroid injections and implants, antimicrobial therapy (intraocular and systemic), systemic immunosuppressive therapy, biologics and JAK inhibitors
Interdisciplinary postings with good exposure to pulmonology and rheumatology disciplines
Training in the management of complications of uveitis
Evaluation of paediatric uveitis with hand-held slit lamp examination and indirect ophthalmoscopy
Evaluation of systemic autoimmune diseases and to monitor the side effects of the drugs (toxicity screening like HCQ, ethambutol etc)
Indirect ophthalmoscopy with Amsler Dubois drawings
B scan ultrasonography (performance and reporting)
FFA and ICGA (procedure-learning and reporting)
Lasers (both adult and pediatric) including:
1. PRP
2. Targeted laser
3. Focal laser
4. PDT
5. TTT
Intravitreal injections in the OT and Uvea floor
Ozurdex injections
Wetlab training
Simulator training for anterior vitrectomy
Suprachoroidal injections
We, here at Narayana Nethralaya have optimal wet lab facilities for trainees that is effectively supervised. Need of the hour-Virtual simulator based training is also provided to improve hand eye coordination. The candidates initially get to assist and subsequently operate on patients while ensuring patient safety. The fellows also get a chance to operate on high end machines like Catalys and Lensex (Femto second laser) independently. The goal is to coach the young ophthalmologist to become highly ethical and meticulous trained specialist.
Over the years, NN fellowship training program has evolved to incorporate research and academics at its very foundation. Array of academics -case based discussions, presentations, seminars and journal clubs keep the trainees not just intellectually engaged but also help to keep their clinical acumen sharp. Our fellows are motivated to present their research at various national and international podiums. This period of research is an extremely exciting time that opens up new avenues – attending scientific meetings, contributing to translational research and winning awards. Academics includes case based discussion, video based skill transfer and journal club weekly. Fellowship also aims at inculcating interest in research. Presenting research work at various national and international conference to improve knowledge regarding the subject, build confidence and enhance oratory skills.
Qualification: Fellowship opportunity is offered to trainees with minimum qualifications: DO/DOMS/MS/DNB.

Duration of fellowship: 18 months (Uvea 15 months + Medical Retina 03 months)
